Your estimated principal and interest payment each month.

Total interest

The estimated borrowing cost over the full loan term, excluding fees.

Estimates are for educational purposes and are not loan offers. This calculator assumes a fixed annual interest rate, equal monthly payment periods, and the first payment one month after funding. It excludes fees, variable rates, balloon structures, and extra payments. Amounts are rounded for display; totals use unrounded calculations. Actual lender calculations and terms may differ. Your entries stay in this calculator and are not sent to our financing partner.

How to Use the Equipment Financing Calculator

1. Enter the Equipment Cost

Add the purchase price of the equipment you want to finance.

2. Choose Your Down Payment

Enter your down payment as a dollar amount or percentage. The calculator subtracts it from the equipment cost to determine the amount financed.

3. Add an Annual Interest Rate

Enter a quoted annual interest rate or try an assumed rate for planning purposes. Each calculation assumes the rate stays constant throughout the loan.

4. Select Your Repayment Term

Choose the term in months or years. Try different terms to compare monthly payments and total interest.

5. Review Your Results

Calculate your estimated payment, review the monthly repayment schedule, and download the schedule as a CSV file if you want to keep it for reference.

Understanding Your Results

Amount Financed

This is the equipment cost minus your down payment. It represents the starting loan balance used to calculate payments.

Monthly Payment

Your estimated monthly payment includes principal and interest. The calculator assumes equal monthly payments that fully repay the loan over your selected term.

Total Interest

This is the estimated interest paid over the entire loan term, excluding fees and other expenses.

Total Loan Payments

This figure combines the amount financed and total interest. It does not include your upfront down payment.

Total Paid, Including Down Payment

This adds your down payment to all estimated loan payments, giving you a broader view of the purchase and financing cost modeled by the calculator.

Equipment Financing Example

Suppose you purchase $100,000 in equipment, make a 20% down payment, and finance the remaining balance at a 10% annual interest rate for five years.

Item Estimated amount
Equipment cost $100,000.00
Down payment $20,000.00
Amount financed $80,000.00
Monthly payment $1,699.76
Total interest $21,985.81
Total loan payments $101,985.81
Total paid, including down payment $121,985.81

This illustration assumes 60 monthly payments, a fixed interest rate, and no additional charges. Amounts are rounded. It is not a financing offer.

Compare Down Payments and Repayment Terms

Explore a Larger Down Payment

For the same equipment price, interest rate, and term, a larger down payment reduces the amount financed. That lowers the estimated monthly payment and total interest, while requiring more money upfront.

Compare a Shorter Term

A shorter term generally increases the monthly payment but reduces total interest. Use the calculator to see how much the payment changes.

Review a Longer Term

A longer term generally lowers the monthly payment but increases total interest. Compare both figures to understand the trade-off.

Calculator Assumptions

This tool models an equipment purchase loan with a fixed interest rate and equal monthly payments. It assumes the first payment occurs one month after funding.

The estimates exclude taxes, lender fees, insurance, extra payments, variable rates, and balloon or residual payments. The calculator does not model equipment leases or estimate tax deductions.

Frequently asked questions

Is the equipment financing calculator free?

Yes. You can use the calculator for free to estimate payments and compare different purchase and financing scenarios.

How is the amount financed calculated?

The calculator subtracts your down payment from the equipment cost. For example, an $80,000 purchase with a $10,000 down payment results in a $70,000 financed amount.

Can I enter a down payment as a percentage?

Yes. You can enter either a percentage or a dollar amount. The calculator converts the down payment into dollars when calculating the amount financed.

Can I calculate financing with no down payment?

Yes. Enter zero as the down payment to model financing the entire equipment price. This is a calculation option, not confirmation that a lender offers zero-down financing or that you qualify.

What interest rate should I use?

Use the annual interest rate quoted by a lender, if available. Otherwise, try several assumed rates to explore different costs. The calculator uses an annual interest rate, not a factor rate or fee-inclusive APR.

Does the calculator include taxes, insurance, or lender fees?

No. Those costs are excluded. Review them separately when estimating the full cost of buying, financing, and operating the equipment.

Can I use this calculator for an equipment lease?

This calculator models a purchase loan, not a lease. It does not account for lease-specific terms such as residual values, end-of-term purchase options, or lease fees.

Can I use it to plan a used equipment purchase?

Yes. You can enter the price of new or used equipment to model a purchase loan. The calculation does not determine whether a lender will finance a particular item.

Can I see the monthly repayment schedule?

Yes. The schedule shows estimated principal, interest, and remaining balance for each month. You can also download it as a CSV file.

Does the calculator account for extra payments?

No. It assumes you make the scheduled monthly payments throughout the selected term. It does not model early payoff or additional principal payments.

Will using the calculator affect my credit score?

No. Using the calculator does not perform a credit check or submit a financing application.

Does the result guarantee financing approval?

No. Results are estimates based on your inputs. Approval, available amounts, rates, down payment requirements, and repayment terms are determined by the financing provider.
